Remote Color Grading & Review

At Wild Lion Media, remote grading isn’t a compromise — it’s a streamlined, secure, and cinematic experience designed to bring your vision to life from wherever you are.

Whether you’re across the city or across the world, we provide a professional-grade color workflow that mirrors the quality of in-suite sessions. Here’s how it works:

Secure, High-Quality Connection

We use industry-standard remote tools inspired by the Netflix Remote Grading Protocol:

  • Live Grading via secure, low-latency streaming via Remote Monitor in DaVinci Resolve.
  • Optionally, private Vimeo links for async feedback sessions or color reference files for you to watch on your reference monitor.
  • Watermarking options available for sensitive content.

Your footage never leaves our facility — only encrypted pixels are streamed.

What You Need on Your End

Depending on the level of review or collaboration, here’s what you’ll need:

For Live Grading Sessions:

  • A calibrated monitor (Rec.709 with gamma 2.4 is ideal).
  • A stable, wired internet connection (minimum 30 Mbps download).
  • A quiet, focused space to view the stream and communicate.
  • Zoom, Meet, or Teams — so we’re always in sync.

For Remote Reviews / Feedback:

  • Access to DaVinci Resolve Remote Monitor — if you have Resolve Studio, I can stream directly to your system using Remote Monitoring. Ideal for color-critical sessions.
  • Access to a high-quality 10-bit H.265 or ProRes review file — delivered securely and privately to ensure accurate playback and protect your content.
  • We strongly recommend reviewing our grades on a LUT-calibrated reference monitor with a Delta E of approximately 2.0 for critical color accuracy. Alternatively, an iPad Pro with XDR Display and Reference Mode enabled offers an excellent review experience.

  • Feedback can be given by email only in exceptional situations. We prefer online finishing with real-time collaboration on Zoom, Teams, Meet, or even a WhatsApp call.
The Workflow

We tailor each session to the project and the people involved. But a typical remote session looks like this:

Phase Description
Prep We conform, sync, and match your footage. You receive a test stream or review file.
Session We meet live, stream the grade in real time, and shape the look together.
Feedback Loop You review a high-quality H.265 or ProRes export and send notes.
Final Delivery We output your master in broadcast or digital formats, ready for distribution.
Why Clients Love Remote Grading
  • Save time and travel costs.
  • Stay involved in the final creative process.
  • Review on your own calibrated display — or see what your audience will.
  • Collaborate globally — no need to be tied to one location or timezone.
Under the Hood: How We Grade
  • Color managed in DaVinci Wide Gamut or ACES.
  • Monitoring on calibrated LG C3 / DeckLink / ColourSpace-verified pipeline with delta around 0.6
  • Conforms, QC, and broadcast delivery specs aligned with Netflix, EBU, and local broadcaster standards.

Ready to Collaborate Remotely?

Remote grading doesn’t mean remote control. You’re still in the room — just without the traffic and the coffee budget.
